چکیده

A versatile, actuator-based open machine architecture is needed to meet the increasing performance demands of modern mechanical systems. Actuators in such systems must have a complete knowledge of operating characteristics, with the ability to reconfigure resources to adapt to different conditions or user-choices.This generality of response is termed as intelligence. To achieve this objective, an Electro Mechanical Actuator Architecture (EMAA) is proposed, based on self-contained, intelligent electromechanical actuator modules with standardized interfaces, complemented with a multi-sensor architecture and a novel criteria-based decisionmaking paradigm based on performance maps.

An Intelligent Agent based Approach for Service Discovery in Wireless Ad-hoc Networks

In this paper we propose an architecture for modeling the service discovery functionality of computing devices operating in pervasive computing environments. Forming wireless ad hoc networks requires service discovery protocols that support both proximity-based detection and abstract level service matching. In the proposed architecture, services, provided by sensors and actuators, are indirectl...

Rerearch on a Prognostic and Health Monitoring Approach for Emas in the Flight Control System

For a more critical use in commercial aircraft, the Electromechanical Actuators (EMAs) technology must prove to be the same level of safety and reliability as systems based on Electrohydrostatic Actuators (EHA) and Hydraulics Actuators (HAs).The use of a Prognostic and Health Monitoring (PHM) is an additional way to secure the jamming free approach for EMA in flight control system and is becomi...

A Methodology for Rapid Prototyping Microfluidic Devices with Sophisticated Functionality

Microfluidic laboratory-on-a-chip (LOC) systems based on a modular architecture are presented. A multi-layer approach segregates components belonging to two fundamental categories: passive fluidic components (channels and reaction chambers) and active electromechanical control structures (sensors and actuators). Components belonging to these two categories are built separately on different phys...

Modeling and Control of Electromechanical Actuators for Heavy Vehicle Applications

The possibility to develop control systems for electromechanical actuators at Scania is studied, in particular the focus is on how to exchange the intelligent actuators used today with dumb ones. An intelligent actuator contains its own control electronics and computational power, bought as a unit from suppliers by Scania and controlled via the CAN bus. A dumb actuator contains no means of cont...

A Context-aware Architecture for Mental Model Sharing through Semantic Movement in Intelligent Agents

Recent studies in multi-agent systems are paying increasingly more attention to the paradigm of designing intelligent agents with human inspired concepts. One of the main cognitive concepts driving the core of many recent approaches in multi agent systems is shared mental models. In this paper, we propose an architecture for sharing mental models based on a new concept called semantic movement....
